Honoring the Past
The building itself carries a rich local history, having originally served as the town's one-room schoolhouse. Because of the town's geographic isolation in Curry County, the little school was kept open for many years.
The school officially closed in 2010 and the historic school building was subsequently repurposed as the home of the Agness Community Library. Today, the library serves as an active community hub offering free high-speed internet, children's story time and a variety of services and resources for residents and visitors.

To Embrace the Future

September 2026 / The library has recently been renovated with new siding
and new windows. The community is thankful for a grant from the Judith Ann Morgan Foundation which enabled these improvements.
